Carl was educated at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam by C. L. Dake, A. J. Derkinderen and N. van der Waay.

Carl Schlüter was a member of the St. Lucas artists’ association in Amsterdam, the Pictura Drawing Society in Dordrecht and the Association of Visual Artists in Laren-Blaricum.
collections
His work ‘Haven van Volendam’ is well known. He also made various cityscapes of Amsterdam.
His works can be found in various private collections and the National Collection of the art collection of the State of the Netherlands.
